Privacy Policy
Last updated: [01/10/2026]
At Jacqo, your trust matters to us — the same way we'd want a maker we buy from to treat our own information. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit our site or order from us, why we collect it, and what say you have over it.
If anything here raises a question, just email us at info@jacqo.be. We'd rather explain than have you wonder.
Who this applies to
This policy covers jacqo.be ("the Site") and any purchase or communication you have with us. It's written to apply under the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), regardless of where you live — we treat everyone visiting our site with the same care.
What personal data we collect
Information you give us directly:
Contact details: name, address, phone number, email
Order details: billing and shipping address, payment confirmation, order history
Account details: username, password (if you create an account)
Anything you share with us directly, like a message about your order or a return request
Information we collect automatically:
Basic usage data when you browse our site — pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location, and similar technical information, gathered through cookies and similar technologies
Information from third parties:
Our payment provider (Squarespace payments) confirms that your payment was completed — we never see or store your card or bank details ourselves
Our e-commerce platform (Squarespace) and other tools that help us run the Site
Why we collect it
We use your information to:
Process and fulfil your order — from confirmation email to shipping and tracking
Handle returns, exchanges, and customer support — so we can actually help when you reach out
Keep our site secure and prevent fraud
Send you marketing emails — but only if you've opted in. We never assume that placing an order means you've signed up for our newsletter. Opting in is always your choice, and you can opt out any time via the unsubscribe link.
Improve our site and shop, using aggregated, mostly anonymous analytics
We do not sell your personal data.
Who we share it with
We work with a small number of trusted partners who help us run Jacqo, and we only share what's necessary for them to do their job:
Partner
Purpose
Squarespace
Powers our online shop and stores order data
Squarespace Payments
Processes payments securely
Squarespace
Sends order confirmations and, if you've opted in, marketing emails
Each of these partners is required to handle your data in line with GDPR and only use it for the purpose we've asked them to. If any of them transfer data outside the EU/EEA, they do so under approved safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
We may also share information if required by law, or to protect our legal rights.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies to make your shopping experience work smoothly — remembering what's in your cart, keeping you logged in, and understanding how the site is used.
Essential cookies (like your shopping cart) are always active, since the site can't function properly without them.
Analytics and advertising cookies (like Google Analytics or Meta Pixel) are only set with your permission, which we ask for via the cookie banner when you first visit.
You can manage or withdraw your cookie consent at any time through your browser settings or our cookie preferences tool. Turning off non-essential cookies won't stop you from shopping — but it may make some personalised features less useful.
How long we keep your data
We keep your information for as long as needed to fulfil the purpose it was collected for — for example, order and invoice data is kept as long as required by Belgian accounting and tax law. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
Delete your data (with some exceptions, like invoices we're legally required to keep)
Restrict or object to certain processing
Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
Withdraw consent at any time, for anything based on consent (like marketing emails or optional cookies)
Lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be) if you feel we haven't handled your data properly
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@jacqo.be. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, simply to make sure we're not handing your data to the wrong person.
Keeping your data safe
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse, or unauthorised access. That said, no online system is 100% secure, so we'd ask you not to send us sensitive information (like full card details) over email.
Children's data
Jacqo isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has shared personal data with us, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — to reflect new tools we use, legal changes, or simply to make it clearer. We'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date. If changes are significant, we'll let you know more directly, for example by email.
